BrewBalls Introduced at GABF 2009
BrewBalls introduced at the Great American Beer Festival!
Tom Merline Sept 27,2009
With their banner brightly inquiring "Do You Have the Balls?(to brew to perfection)", Hume Labs introduced BrewBalls at the GABF in Denver on September 24, 2009. There was a considerable amount of activity at the booth all three days. Many of the 50,000 plus attendees were drawn to the booth out of curiosity or to pose for comic pictures under the banner but the actual home-brewers stopped by to ask about how the product worked and many told us it was a "great idea" and a "cool product". There was a lot of dicussion about contamination and the undesirable process of siphoning out samples. All could relate to the broken hydrometer on display saying " been there, done that" or " I hate those things". Others discussed having more specific ranges of density. Although the first set of BrewBalls was purposely set to a wide range, BrewBallStore explained that custom sets could be made on request. Some of the local and out of state brew equipment suppliers expressed interest in stocking the product and promoting it as part of the brew kits they offer to new brewers. Overall, the show was raucous entertainment, there were great beers to taste, numerous fun activities, great beers to taste, outrageous wardrobes and hats, great beers to taste, cool vendor products, great beers to taste, and, of course, there was beer.
